My Story

I came to yoga not as a natural athlete or a lifelong seeker — I came as someone who was tired, disconnected, and quietly searching for something I couldn't quite name. What I found on the mat changed everything.

After 5 years of dedicated practice and formal teacher training, I founded Radiant Joy Yoga with one simple belief: that every person deserves a teacher who truly sees them. Not just their poses, but their whole self — their history, their hesitations, their heart.

My teaching is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for where you are right now. There's no pressure to be more advanced, more flexible, or more anything. You belong here, exactly as you are.

How I Teach

My classes are warm, unhurried, and always welcoming — whether you've never set foot on a mat or you've been practicing for decades. I believe yoga should feel like coming home, not like a performance.

You won't find rigid rules or dogma here. What you will find is thoughtful sequencing, clear guidance, and a genuine invitation to explore what your body and breath are telling you. Every class is a conversation, not a lecture.

Beginners are not just tolerated — they're celebrated. There is something beautiful about approaching the practice with fresh eyes, and I love guiding students through those first transformative experiences.

What I Believe

Yoga is not one-size-fits-all. Your body is unique, your journey is unique, and your practice should reflect that. I draw from multiple traditions and adapt my teaching to serve the real human in front of me — not an idealized version of what a yogi should look like.

I believe in peace over performance, presence over perfection, and community over competition. My studio is a place where you can exhale — literally and figuratively.

If you've been searching for a teacher who will meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you grow, I'd be honored to be that person for you.

"I had been living with constant dull pain in my back from an accident I was in. I happened to run into Des and she suggested I try her Yoga for Everybody class. First one was free so why not? I liked it so much I signed up for a trial month. About three weeks in I was pain free and then signed up for regular classes. In November a botched surgery took me out for three months. I was nervous going back... I slowly am stepping it back up but at a pace my body is comfortable with no pressure to do any poses I don’t feel is right during my recovery. When I’ve had issues with a pose she offers me suggestions to make it a bit easier on me. I am back to Yoga for Everybody twice a week now. I always leave feeling better than when I walked in and my body thanks me for it. In the past year I’ve gained noticeable range of movement and flexibility literally all because of Des. I’m looking forward to this year and am excited to try some new classes with her."
