The Yamas – Satya by Jacquelyn
Are you seeking truth?
This week we return to yoga philosophy and the yamas.
The second yama is satya which means truth, sincerity and honesty.
We are asked to treat honesty as second only to non-violence (ahimsa). The Mahabharata says,
‘Truth should be told when agreeable, should be said agreeably and truth should not be said that does harm; however, never give lie to pleasure.’
Are you honest with yourself? Do you see yourself, your practice and your life as they truly are?
Many of us have a tendency to see things as better or worse than they actually are. Satya challenges us to see the truth, speak the truth and live the truth.
Join me in class this week and practice seeing yourself and your practice as they truly are.
