Vishuddha means ‘purification’ denoting the purifying effect of releasing sound from the body; a gasp, a sigh, a scream or simply saying that which needs to be said. The fifth chakra on our journey, vishuddha is a blue wheel of energy located at the throat. It is associated with communication, either speaking or listening, resonance and harmony. Literally communing with our surroundings and the people we know.
Journalling your thoughts. Creative outlets such as writing, painting, music and singing. Neck rolls, half shoulder-stands, lion’s breath, chanting, kirtan (call and response), toning with vowel sounds, mantra repetition and humming. Prayers, either written or spoken. The point is to externalize the internal thoughts in some way.
Join me in class this week to balance your vishuddha chakra.
