Is your life filled with thanks?
The last couple of weeks have been challenging, however you look at it. As a family, we’ve had pretty good cause to feel let down or hard done by and I won’t pretend that there haven’t been a few moments when those thoughts have crowded in and nearly pushed everything else out.
But, this is one of those times when I shout ‘THANK GOODNESS FOR YOGA!’
If it were not for the solid ground I find on my yoga mat and in other mindfulness practices, I think I’d be in pretty bad shape right now.
Having these tools doesn’t change anything about the outward challenges we face but, in my experience, it does help us deal with those challenges in a more healthy and hopeful way.
Yoga and mindfulness help me to see a broader picture. Even when the news is bad, I can still see the reasons to be joyful and thankful and I believe that this helps me to deal with the challenges of life. Finding the joy in this moment, remembering the great good fortune of family and friendship during difficult times, makes the challenges seem smaller somehow.
This week my classes will focus on living with thanks. Thanks for our bodies, thanks for the love we receive and for the love we are capable of giving. There are so many reasons to be joyful, let’s connect to those reasons together.
