Ever wondered why we’re called Radiant Joy Yoga? Ever wondered what’s written on my arm?
When I went to Vancouver on retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh I took vows about living a mindful life, vows that I do my best to live up to each day. As part of that ordination ceremony I was given a dharma name, Radiant Joy of the Heart.
Like the vows this is something I do my best to live up to. An aspiration that I try to embody every day, some days more successfully than others.
I have to admit that recently it’s been a very challenging practice. Trying to embody ‘radiant joy of the heart’ during difficult times is not easy.
Even on the days when I feel like I’ve failed, I try to remember that it’s the attempt that helps us grow. Just continuing to try can take all of our strength but this gentle, persistence is more effective than big, dramatic changes in my experience.
This week in class we’ll be working on strengthening our bodies and gaining the stability that will see us through the challenging times. Join me!
