Show Yourself a Lil’ Love!! by Michelle

Valentine’s Day is almost here…

This year I am super excited for cupid’s holiday – and probably not for the reason you are thinking (sure, I love diamonds – I think I read somewhere they were a girls best friend?!? – chocolate and flowers as much as the next girl), but for some reason this year my perspective has changed a bit.

This year I am going to re-focus on myself. This may see like a selfish, perhaps self absorbed, thing to do but in years past I have always focused on others and doing things to show them how much I love and care for them to the point that I sometimes forget about myself.

I have noticed can that I can become resentful when someone doesn’t love me the way I think they should love me. But deep down inside, somewhere that may be painful to examine, I know that it’s me that doesn’t love me the way I should love myself.

Most of the time I feel there are always other things I ‘should’ be doing rather than taking time for a lil’ TLC for myself (laundry/ironing instead of reading a book, cleaning instead of taking a bath, watching the kids instead of practicing yoga, etc.).

When we give so much, we need to take time for ourselves, to fill up again, to do the things that nourish our body, mind and soul. I find this makes it more easeful to spread the love to others in our lives. By taking time for ourselves we avoid burnout, exhaustion and we become the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be. We are happier, less stressed and more light-hearted.

Let’s take some time for ourselves this week to fill up so we can spread our love out into the world!!
