Samskaras by Jacquelyn

Are you stuck in a rut?
One of the great gifts of yoga is that it helps us to break out of our habitual patterns.
On our mat we can try new things in a safe way. We can make very simple adjustments to our body to practice making small changes. For example, crossing our legs the opposite way from normal. These simple changes prepare us for making bigger changes in the rest of our lives. They also helps us to deal with uninvited change.
Like the ruts in a track that our wheels are constantly pulled back into, samskaras are our habitual thought patterns. When we are not mindful of our thoughts, this is where we go. As we develop mindfulness we become more conscious of these patterns and can begin to identify those which are perhaps not serving us well.
Join me in class this week and make some small changes to your physical practice, perhaps it will help you to make adjustments in your life off the mat.
Namaste, Jacquelyn
