A few words from Jacquelyn -
My mission is to teach and practice yoga with fearlessness, compassion and intuition. Yoga has helped me overcome paralyzing fears and chronic pain. When I found yoga, I found my true purpose in life. I want to help everyone recognize their own unique perfection and stand strong in their own light.
You’ll feel at home in Shanti Retreat’s spacious century inn and waterside cabins. This beautiful 11 acre property has stunning views of the St. Lawrence River and sunsets from the waterfront patio are memorable. The inn’s timbered ceilings and wood stove provide a natural country charm. It’s the perfect setting to curl up with a book, relax by the wood stove, and connect with kindred spirits.
Enjoy the ambiance of peace and tranquility that the Asian décor and sacred spaces exude. Relax in the comfort, warmth, and coziness of guest rooms decorated in themes inspired by the retreat owners’ travels.
Accommodation is shared with either a water or garden view, all with private bathrooms.
Practice yoga in an 850 square foot yoga yurt featuring cork flooring, and a natural lodge pole pine interior. Experience the special energy created by this round structure.
Inside the main inn you will experience the pleasure of meeting in the Green Tara room, a beautiful timbered ceiling space with plenty of natural light and a sweeping water view. Or sit by the fire and talk to friends.
Relax and watch the sunrise and sunset or listen to the sounds of nature in the beautiful Balinese Hut on the lakefront.

Am I experienced enough in yoga and meditation to do this retreat?
The yoga classes will be gentle and moderate flow.
Gentle Yoga – A gentle full body stretch and a chance to connect to a peaceful state of mind. The focus is on increasing flexibility and gently strengthening your muscles. It’s all about self acceptance and compassion. Using breath techniques, meditation and gentle postures Jacquelyn will guide you through a practice with lots of options to suit your body.
Flow Yoga – A moderate class that builds strength and flexibility in the body and fosters a calm mind. Students are invited to practice in a way that honours their body. Jacquelyn will offer options to modify down or up depending on your needs.
No meditation experience is required for this retreat.
Can I come for only part of the time? Would you pro-rate it?
We encourage attendance for the whole event. Continuity of the group is an important aspect of the retreat.
How many people will be in the group?
Shanti Retreat Centre caters for up to 29 guests.
Is there Internet at the retreat centre?
Wi-fi is available but we encourage attendees to unplug while on retreat.
Travel Logistics -
A scenic ferry ride will bring you to Shanti.
From Toronto and Uxbridge it takes about 2.5 hours to reach the Wolfe Island ferry dock in downtown Kingston where the free ferry (Wolfe Island Ferry) departs hourly. Try to arrive at least half an hour before the ferry departure time.
Coming from the East or West on the 401 turn off at exit 623. Travel South on highway 15 until it ends at highway 2. Turn right on highway 2, continue for a few kilometers, cross the drawbridge, after the drawbridge enter the left lane and prepare to turn left into the Wolfe Island Ferry Dock (next to Tim Hortons).
Once you’re on Wolfe Island, we’re only a 5 minute drive away. We highly recommend setting your tripmeter to zero once you arrive. After leaving the ferry continue straight 100 meters until you reach a stop sign. Turn left and continue 4 kilometers. Along the way you will pass the 9th line. Continue 400 meters past the 9th line and turn left at Waldo’s Lane. Continue straight 500 meters to reach Shanti. (You’ve gone too far if you reach the 10th line).
Upon arrival, please unload your bags at the front of the house, and then park in the designated parking area.
If you would like to leave your car on the mainland, let us know when you will be arriving and we will pick you up from the ferry.
