Plans, Power Outages and Yogic Philosophy by Michelle

Sticking to the plan?

I must confess and it’s pretty embarrassing, especially since I am a yoga teacher, for the last few weeks I had abandoned my yoga practice. It’s so uncomfortable and makes me feel completely naked to admit that! But don’t worry; I am back to my practice now. It seems the universe aligned to give me no choice.
This morning I had plans to get things done (ironing, shopping, vacuuming and cleaning) – until the power went out. It’s amazing the things we use electricity for (including my wireless internet connection to submit my blog). So what to do? I couldn’t do anything that I had planned and I did want to get back to my yoga practice, so I practiced yoga and took some time to relax and finish reading a book.
I took a page from the yoga philosophy of non-attachment and going with the flow. So my plans changed, and since I could let go of my plans, I really enjoyed my yoga practice and taking time to just relax – I had nothing else that I could do! After all, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade!!
