This week we return to the niyamas. We’ve now reached the second niyama, santosa.
As part of our yoga practice, both on and off the mat, we are encouraged to find an attitude of santosa, contentment.
In practice, this may mean letting go of the critical voice in our heads and simply accepting that we are enough as we are right now. On the mat we accept that the shapes we create during our practice are perfect for today. We let go of the need to strive towards something else.
We love and accept who we are right now. We find peace and contentment in each moment.
Off the mat, we can practice finding contentment in our daily lives. We can look for the still moments which give us respite from the need to strive, to push, to achieve. We can abide in stillness and learn to be content there.
