From the heart…It’s Yoga, But Not As I Know It

From the heart…
23 October 2012
Dear friends,
When I look around our studio at the friends who come to practice here I am overawed by my good fortune. I really have found the best place in the world for me and I’m grateful for it every day.
However, when I look at articles and blogs about yoga I often don’t recognize the stories they tell. They often talk about competitiveness and backbiting, two things I’ve never seen in our community.
I wrote about this disconnect for elephant journal, It’s Yoga, But Not As I Know It and, based on the comments from readers and friends, I now know for sure that we have something truly special. Thank you for all that you do to make this the welcoming and safe space that it is. No matter what colour the walls are, no matter the size of the studio, it’s the people who define it. Thank you!
Please subscribe to our new blog or check it regularly for articles on yoga philosophy, postures, class themes and even recipes for healthy dishes. The ‘From the heart…’ newsletter will continue once or twice each month but the blog will be our more active and dynamic source of information.
For example, watch the blog for details of our first hot yoga classes to start next week.
If you have any questions drop us an email or call us on (905) 852-6600. See you on a mat soon!
With love and thanks,

Friends On the Path Meditation Sangha

The Friends on the Path meditation sangha (community) is based on the ‘Engaged Buddhism’ teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay), Buddhist monk and Zen Master. Join us to establish or to support your mindfulness practices both on and off the cushion.

The sangha will meet on the third Sunday of each month between 10.30 am and noon. Time will be given to sitting practice, to mindful discussion and to enjoying recordings of dharma talks from Thay.

No meditation experience or knowledge of Buddhism is necessary. The group exists simply to provide support for our individual efforts to live mindfully.

This is a free group although you are welcome to bring a donation for the Uxbridge Food Bank if you feel moved to do so. Feel free to bring your own cushion / bench or to use our bolsters.

Sunday 18th November, 10.30 am – noon.

Huge thanks to our sangha members who have donated another full box of supplies for the food bank.
