Seeing Deeply by jacquelyn
Welcome to the Radiant Joy Yoga blog! I’m hoping that this will be a dynamic and useful way for us to stay in touch with studio news, tips to deeper your practice and general yoga related bits and bobs.
I’d like to begin by sharing a little bit about my class theme for this week and why I chose it. I hope that this will be a regular practice and will give more depth to classes.
This week my focus is on seeing deeply, perceiving what is happening below the surface and finding true insight. The reason I chose this is that I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my mission in life and whether or not I’m focussing my energy in a mindful and single pointed way. I know that I’m incredibly lucky to have found my path in life so after years of wandering I’m very grateful to have come home to yoga.
These attempts to really understand how I’m using my energy make me realize where I’m ‘wasting’ it on projects that really don’t add anything to my mission. As hard as I find it to say no, this clarity helps me to gain perspective on what I should and shouldn’t focus on.
This is my mission as I perceive it right now…
My mission is to teach and practice yoga with fearlessness, compassion and intuition and to continue to fill myself up in order to be of service to others. I use my gifts and the tools that my teachers have given me to help people recognize their own unique perfection and to stand strong and fearless in their own light.
What’s your mission? Are you directing your energy towards achieving it or is it draining away on the things you feel you ‘should’ do. Don’t you just hate that word, should?
Another great question to ask ourselves is, ‘what are my values?’ This is another fantastic way to explore whether your actions are in line with your purpose. Often we have an underlying sense of unease and this, if we explore it deeply enough, can turn out to be a disconnect between our actions and our values.
So what’s important to you? What would you stand up for? Honesty? Authenticity? Family? Do your values and your mission mesh well?
As Gandhi said,
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
Take some time to see deeply this week and find your happiness. I hope to see you in class.
