My personal intention for my practice this month is ‘courage’. I’m going to need it as I jump way out of my comfort zone and start shooting a yoga show for Rogers.
My family would tell you that I am not someone who enjoys having their photograph taken. They can also provide plenty of evidence, there are hundred of pictures of me looking grumpy and trying to hide at the back. This is a big deal for me.
I’ve had to work hard to overcome my aversion to the camera. I’ve been getting some practice by making YouTube videos for our website and even with only one person there, I was still very nervous and uncomfortable. When we start to film with Rogers there will be a whole group of people that I don’t know, all watching me closely.
But, as always, practice has helped. I’m not a professional presenter by any stretch of the imagination but I’ve definitely started to feel a bit more comfortable. Hopefully, this will help me next week.
The flip side of this challenge is that I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to learn from professionals and the chance to bring yoga teachings to a wider audience. The only way I can truly honour this opportunity is to push through my discomfort.
What are you ready to take on? Where will your courage take you this week? Join me in class to set your intention, my brave yoga friends.
